HP1205 psc & xsane [Solved]

I'm new to Archlinux having moved from Gentoo and some things that are slightly different have got me stumped
I can print even though the HP-tool box says the printer can't be found :-/ (seems to be doing this since hplip updated
1st i've  edited

[root@myhost xpd259]# nano -w /etc/sane.d/dll.conf
hpaio
#uncommented that

when i search for the scanner

[xpd259@myhost ~]$ scanimage -L
device `v4l:/dev/video0' is a Noname UNKNOWN/GENERIC virtual device

or start xsane i get a black & white xsanem diablog for my dvb card (not working yet sad )

while under root

[root@myhost xpd259]# scanimage -L
device `hpaio:/usb/psc_1200_series?serial=HU38BDP0VM8X' is a Hewlett-Packard psc_1200_series all-in-one
device `v4l:/dev/video0' is a Noname UNKNOWN/GENERIC virtual device

under xsane a dialog letting me select the input i want

I'm a member of the group scanner

could any body off any advice or tips on how to sort this?

thanks
