When i start my computer after the boot it appears this message in a amarok box:
"xine was unable to initialize any audio drivers."
The sound is working well and after a while amarok and kaffeine works well.
If i reboot the message appears and amarok and kaffeine don't work. After a while amarok and kaffeine works well.
Thank you,
Afonso

Anybody figure this out yet? I have this too, and scrounging around here & elsewhere so far has done me no good... Now I'm wondering if I ignored a Qt message or two last pacman -Syu I did. Oh well I'll keep tinkering.

Hrrmm, I see alsa/sound seems to die when I use Flock & try to watch a video on Brietbart or something.
OK I've just been trying running Opera, hitting Brietbart, cranking up an ogg file with alsaplayer, then trying Flock. This is after logging out & back in. So far this time everything is going fine, I can hear my song & the video both. So I don't know what's happening nor really when it might happen again. Weird.

Wow time's passed & I dunno exactly what problem I was having nor how I maybe "fixed" it... Anyway, today I had problems, again, with Amarok, and I had just been using Flock. Couldn't get anywhere, and aside from Amarok's friendly message about xine & audio drivers, got these messages:
Amarok: [Loader] Starting amarokapp..
Amarok: [Loader] Don't run gdb, valgrind, etc. against this binary! Use amarokapp.

While floundering around, somehow in my googling I got the idea to check on what KDE stuff was running. I did a quick
ps -efwww | grep kde
and found this 'mongst the output:
johnny 30257 1 0 11:51 ? 00:00:14 /opt/kde/bin/artsd -F 10 -S 4096 -m artsmessage -c drkonqi -l 3 -f
Just for kicks I killed that & tried Amarok again, it worked like a charm this time. I _think_ I've gone through this before, but I'm rather thick & have to keep learning things for the first time. Hope maybe this helps someone.
