questions about switching to texlive, and kile

I use blackbox/openbox as a window manager, and use Kile for latex document production.  i have installed aspell, but apparently, through reading/searching, kile defaults to ispell, unless you open the k configuration program, and set aspell to the global dictionary.......how would one go about changing kile to use aspell, without installing all the crud that would be required to bring in and up kcontrol center?

oh, and any issues i should be aware of in the switch to texlive, and setting up kile to use it instead of the non-maintained but core app tetex?
