Rsync bacup

Using this small script to backup /etc only would like it to tar up results so I can transfer to external drive

can I include other directories to rsync ie /home [remembering to move where /Backup is as it only backup itself!]

Been using Simple Backup but would rather create a small script to backup /home and /etc

Media well I back it up as it is from time to time...
