[SOLVED] Recent upgrade made my fonts ugly

After the upgrade I did recently, all fonts in every program look like crap.  As I am typing this in Firefox, it is barely readable.  I've gone through the forums looking for font fixes but nothing seems to help.  It is so strange, I've been running Arch for a number of years now and this is a first for me.  I am not sure what to do.  This problem makes my computer almost unusuable because I can't read it things.

Some extra info about my system:
Viewsonic VA2026w LCD monitor
GeForce 7600GS
nvidia 100.14.19
xorg 1.4.0.90

And I just noticed that I my computer thinks the resolution is set to 1680x1050, but when I click on the info button on my LCD it says 1400x1050.  This seems wrong, as I'm sure it used to always be 1680x1050.

Re: [SOLVED] Recent upgrade made my fonts ugly

I just solved my problem.  This was nothing to do with fonts, but incorrect screen resolution.  I had to add the following lines into my /etc/X11/xorg.conf to make it go back to the way it worked before:
    Modeline "1680x1050_60"  147.14  1680 1784 1968 2256  1050 1051 1054 1087  -HSync +Vsync
for the "Monitor" section and:
    Option         "metamodes" "1680x1050_60 +0+0;"
for the "Screen" section.

Yay, back to normal for me.

Re: [SOLVED] Recent upgrade made my fonts ugly

Same thing happened here. Reinstalling the *-lcd patches (following the guide) did not help.
Sadly your tip didn't work either hmm (I also have a 22" 1680x1050.. Tried nvidia-settings too, nada.)

What updated package could have caused this? I haven't seen any font related packages.

Re: [SOLVED] Recent upgrade made my fonts ugly

although I'm not having this problem and my system is up to date, I also use 1680x1050 screen resolution. My modeline is..

    ModelName      "Dell 2005FPW"
    HorizSync       30.0 - 83.0
    VertRefresh     56.0 - 75.0
    ModeLine       "1680x1050" 119.0 1680 1728 1760 1840 1050 1053 1059 1080 -hsync +vsync

I don't know if that will help, but I remember it was the only modeline I could find that would work right with my monitor.
