Hi!
Small problem: On one computer, I can change the volume over the kmix icon (after clicking on it once and sliding the slider) but on the other computer, I can't so that I have to click once more to get into the mixer properties and change the volume there.
On both computers Kmix 2.6.1 and KDEmod 3.5.8 are installed.
Desktop PC:
Installed drivers: type 10 - alsa emulation
card config: HDA Intel at 0xdfbf8000 irq 18
Audio Devices: ALC882 Analog (Duplex)
Synth and Midi devices are not enabled in config
Timers: 7 - system timers (whatever that means)
Mixers: 0 - Realtek ALC882
A click on Kmix in the systray shows a headphone icon but although I am listening music over the headphones, changing the volume meter doesn't change a thing. I have to click on mixer and set the volume over the front speaker (the second symbol, a plug).
Acer Aspire 1692 wlmi:
Installed drivers: type 10 - alsa emulation
card config: Intel ICH6 with unknown codec at irq 17; Intel ICH6 Modem at irq 19
Audio Devices: Intel ICH6 (Duplex); Intel ICH6 Modem - Modem (Duplex)
Synth and Midi devices are not enabled in config
Timers: 7 - system timers
Mixers: 0 - Conexant id 30; 1 - Conexant id 30
A click on the systray symbol shows the volume meter icon (this bigger triangle with a smaller green triangle inside) and changing this also changes the volume.
I also would like to have kmix ICON started at KDE startup without the whole mixer properties popping up. But if that isn't possible I am wide open for other suggestions concerning the volume control! But that might be another topic as well...
Thanks a lot in advance for all your help!
Micha

right click on icon in systray and select "Select master channel..."
then choose this one which really reflects to your computer
then it will be even possible to use roll in your mouse and when you put cursor over icon you will be able to change volume by roll
