Problem with modules after kernel update.

I ran pacman -Syu and upgraded my kernel to 2.6.6.  Obviously my ethernet was up and running because I had upgraded everything successfully.  The modules I used for my ethernet card is (e100) and I have placed this module into my rc.conf.

After rebooting, my ethernet module is not loaded(via lsmod).  On inspection of my rc.conf file the module is still in the Modules array.  After finding it not loaded i attempted to load it manually 'modprobe e100' and I get the folloing error.

Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.3/modules.dep: No such file or directory

I am also getting this error now when I attempt to test my XF86Config with my radeon module.

I'm probably missing something very simple, but any help would be apprciated.

Thank you

*Edit*
Does the new kernel not have this module maybe, and I might need to use a newer one?

Just a thought after searching some more, but still don't understand why the file wouldnt be there.

Upon further inspection, my /lib/modules folder only has:

/lib/modules/2.6.6 folder not a
/lib/moules/2.6.3 folder

Sorry if this is a complete newbie question, but I guess this is the forum for that  lol

Re: Problem with modules after kernel update.

your kernel and your modules are different versions.
Check your bootmanagers conf file.

arch + gentoo + initng + python = enlisy

Re: Problem with modules after kernel update.

do you use lilo? if so i would say you forgot to run lilo after upgrading your kernel.

Re: Problem with modules after kernel update.

Yes, I use Lilo for my boot manager.

Sorry once again for a stupid question but where and how would I run Lilo, all I have done with Lilo is configured it during setup, and it just runs itself on reboot.  sad

I found the my lilo.conf in /etc folder thats all I know as of now.

Re: Problem with modules after kernel update.

glad to hear you got it working again.

for future reference: arch does not have scripting that will automatically run lilo (the default bootloader is supposedly grub but many use lilo so it is very hard to write one script to please both) so after each kernel upgrade check to make sure you lilo.conf is okay then run lilo. (generally the the default path in the lilo.conf should boot successive builds but you still must run lilo to boot the new kernel)
