Quote from 'Status Report: 2008-01-07':
We're currently going over the integration with the main
site, so it may be a small amount of time before we get the changes in, but it
*IS* being worked on.

When I visited the main page earlier today I saw some changes, but it was a quick try, obviously, because the site was back to old version quickly.
If everything else fails, read the manual.

The new colors look so fresh. I really love it!
Though I obviously won't tell where you guys can find it , just search harder

The logo - when actually used at Distrowatch - is not nearly as impressive looking as the old one.

Ohhh... looks great!!!
Isn't funny how just a few months ago AUR's page was finally setup to match the rest of the site and now it's being changed.
Will the new theme be migrated into AURs page also?

As soon as we can get around to it, yes.
It won't happen overnight though.

Well opinions are like that - we all have them. And I'm not so foolish as to think mine counts for much. But hey - the logo is a small thing to me in the end - so long as archlinux remains the quality distro it is. That's the most important thing.
Best regards,

Wow! That looks great! Much more modern and professional looking.

The header looks fine but the colors of those boxes do not match very well. And perhaps something can be done to make the big white areas (esspecially at the top right) less boring.

i agree on both points. not sure what to suggest in either case though. i'm sure the finished product will be a beautiful thing. i've got faith

Agreed. I like the choice of colors too.

Nice!
Is it just me, or are the colors darker than in the original archer palette?

EDIT:
By the way, now that it's official and all.. could one of you devs share the _official_ palette in rgb of hex?

Now if someone could make a userstyle for stylish with it all in that grey... (I don't know how)
I like the white but not on a dark desktop

I'm just tuning into the conversation here... thanks for all the comments (yes, even yours Theoden )
Thought I'd answer some questions while I'm here:
The logo *is* a tad darker (with a little less green in the blues) to help compensate for CRT's and overly bright LCD screens that made the colours appear almost neon. To be honest, I would like to see the logo in light green, but we're going with blue for now--it's a comfortable colour for most and it's "standard". There may be an opportunity for diehards to customize their own CSS template for the site (if you so wished) and make your own colour scheme--this would be done through grease monkey or something similar.
The "official" palette is as follows:
Primary Blue
RGB 23/147/209
HEX #1793d1 (Websafe #1199cc)
Pantone 2925
Secondary Grey
RGB 77/77/77
HEX #4d4d4d (Websafe #555555)
Pantone 445
The header looks fine but the colors of those boxes do not match very well. And perhaps something can be done to make the big white areas (esspecially at the top right) less boring.
I'm not sure about the boxes, but if you mean the browns/grey don't match--they're not supposed to
The blue is complimented with light shades of grey and brown, giving it a more natural palette. <edit> I think the overall colour scheme may need be tweaked further as more of the site is switched over to the new look. It's hard to know how it will all come together until we have some more pieces of the puzzle on the board </edit>
As for the white area in the top right, I'm assuming you mean between the logo and the ads, right? If you viewed the site at 1024 or less then there isn't much whitespace at all (as shown here. If you have ads disabled then the area will definitely appear stark, but then again most ad-driven sites do.
