Loading udev uevents system freeze

I installed Arch Linux here on my desktop, Its a Intel Core 2 Duo 4300 in a Intel DG965WH mobo and a Nvidia GF 8600. The installation process was ok, but when I boot the system, de system hangs in
"Loading UDev uevents [BUSY]" and then it hardware freezes. No response from keyboard leds or whatsoever.

I already tried the pci=routeirq kernel option, but got the same problem. Is there a way to interactively load udev modules or something alike? And just for the record, I had this kind of problem on gentoo stage3, where the installation would freeze if I didn´t pass the nodetect boot option. I´m wondering if is there a problem with my mobo chipset or so. Thx in advance.

Re: Loading udev uevents system freeze

what chipset u have on your mobo?  I do believe udev is a linux kernel thing, so maybe checking for bugs on kerneltrap.org with specific search for your mobo chipset may help.

I have a nvidia 8600 GT card and that works very well on my system. I think u can safely avoid that piece of hardware.

Re: Loading udev uevents system freeze

It´s definetly has something to do with de modules udev is loading. If I prevent it to load them, then it boots fine...

Guys, thx for the attention. I disabled the hardware modules auto load at rc.conf. Solved the problem.

but how does this solve your problem? I mean, how do u load the modules needed for your hardware now?

edit: btw I searched the net for ich8 chipset and linux and it seems, ich8 and linux do not really like each other. I did find a lot of bug reports on ubuntu concerning ich8 chipset. your experience just seems to prove this point even more. Sry I couldn't help anymore then I did. It's kinda hard when u don't have a ich8 chipset to know and understand the issue.

Re: Loading udev uevents system freeze

Oh man, thx for the help anyway. I really dunno, but with the modules of, the system boots. I din´t know if everything is working, cos I just booted it so far. Cos I intend do compile my own custom kernel soon, so I don´t think I will need the modules from udev. I would like to know more about udev. Does it onlyu detect and load the modules? And if I disable it, can I just manually load the modules I need? Thanks ind advance.
