Hi,
I have an ATI 9800pro and the open source ati drivers installed. I use the following xrandr commands to get the picture on my TV through the S-Video output
# xrandr --addmode S-video 800x600
# xrandr --output S-video --mode 800x600
# xrandr --output S-video --set tv_standard pal
This works ok but I get only a piece of my screen on TV (lets say the top left quadrant). My lcd monitor is connected to DVI and the resolution is 1280x1024.
I haven't touched my xorg.conf file. Can anyone help/guide me a little on how to fix this?
Also, I don't know why but the xrandr -q gives me:
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 1280 x 1200
VGA-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DVI-0 connected 1280x1024+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 338mm x 270mm
1280x1024 60.0*+ 59.9
1024x768 60.0
800x600 60.3
640x480 60.0
720x400 70.1
S-video disconnected 800x600+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm
800x600 60.3*
... but the S-Video is connected and working.
Finally, I'm using the command
xvattr -a XV_CRTC -v 1
to set the Xv overlay from monitor to TV so I can watch videos. Is there a way to have it on both so there's no need for this command?
Thanks

Well, what i've found out is that if you care for tv-out fglrx driver is the only way to go.

I'll try fglrx if no solution is found.
I also checked out the wiki http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI but unfortunately I have the same problem.
Wrong size of picture on my TV. Any ideas?

I'm stuck on a card that isn't supported by fglrx. Am I out of luck trying to get tv-out with color on a pal screen?
