[me@it:/~]$ sudo pacman -Syu
eventually returns:
Proceed with installation? [Y/n]
At which point, jarring the keyboard, as I found out today, is all the confirmation pacman needs. A lower-case 'n' stops it, but enter, and at least a couple of other, random, inputs today have resulted in pacman proceeding.

There is a quasi-standard for these command line tools. When options are given, the capital option is the default. So, 'Y' being capitalized, is the default if you do not select 'n'.
I'm fairly certain pacman has worked like this as long as I've been with Arch, or are you talking about something else?

Just what I was wondering as I read your reply, although I fat-finger enough I'd think I'd have picked up on it by now. Again, minor, but yes, it did seem like new behavior - not that I'm gonna downgrade pacman to (attempt to) find out!
Thanks.
