have deleted ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc and ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok - Amarok version 1.4.8 from testing
restarted from wizard. Have sqlite2 and sqlite3 installed. Anyone having this issue, and any fixes? It says in the context window to be patient while it scans your music collection, but doesn't seem to be doing anything!

well,
after trying many alternatives, rythmbox (doesn't support playlists, or handle art well), banshee (newest not availible in repos, and funny crashes on editing the collection), exaile (nice interface, but buggy, and doesn't like writing to new ipods), I fired up amarok today, and it rebuilt the master collection, and seems to be running great. Have no idea why it pooped out for a while, but, I am happy.
Would live to see the new exaile and banshee hit the community repo, they both show promise, and as they are based on GTK+, I would prefer to use them.

I had problems with the exaile from the repos. Fortunately, abs is right at your fingerstips allowing you to build the latest version in a snap. Worked wonders for me.
