running two (or more) conky's

Is there a way to get multiple conky's up on my desktop?  what I would like to accomplish is have my current conky (showing system resources and whatnot) in the upper right with the output of /var/messages/messages.log running in the upper left hand corner.  my first guess is that I just need to make a second .conkyrc file, but can conky read 2 files? or do I have to have two instances of conky running?

Re: running two (or more) conky's

Make a second conky file,  the name does'nt mather. Then run conky with the -c option.
Ex.

conky -c ~/conky1
conky -c ~/conky2
etc..

Re: running two (or more) conky's

I think you should change

own_window no

to

own_window yes

in both of your configs

Re: running two (or more) conky's

this does stop the flickering, but I don't want them windowed, I would prefer if it would print the output to the desktop.  would the double buffering have anything to do with this? just a possibility.

Re: running two (or more) conky's

figured it out:
own_window yes
own_window_transparent yes
own_window_type desktop

problem solved! Thank you!

Re: running two (or more) conky's

or just make your windows look like they'd be on the desktop wink

own_window_transparent yes
own_window_type normal
own_window_hints undecorate,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager

/edit too slow...

or you could put all the information into one conky, then right align some info and left align the rest.
