Font Rendering ...

The fonts are really starting to hurt my eyes, and iv tried everything. I have tried the freetype2, cairo, etc lcd packages and ubuntu-patch packages from AUR... they improve it but not fully. I have tried variations of sub-pixel hinting with no better results.

Settings are:
BitStream Vera Sans 9
Hinting: Full RGB

Not sure if you can see what I am talking about in the screenshot, but some letters are too close together, some give off a "blurry glow" and some look glossy like the "m" in !empty...

Any help would be great smile

Thanks.

Re: Font Rendering ...

Have you tried using a different font? Sometimes the "non-free" fonts like Arial or Verdana have better hinting than the free fonts.
