Strange freezes

Dear all

I am running a fully updated Arch with kdemod and compizfusion.
I sometime experience freezes of whatr seems to be the X server (I can CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE it back to login) but after I insert my password the initialization hangs at the first step which is I think something like system initialization. I have to do a reboot to get the system working nocely again.
I have tried with the fallback kernel and I get the same issues.

Has anybody ever had such experiences? I have the feeling it is not related with compiz

Re: Strange freezes

If you that it is not related to compiz, desactivate compiz and see if its hang.
Compiz is not really stable, at home, when compiz is launched, if i return to console and back to X i get a blank screen with only the mouse and cant do anything and its a compiz problem (exactly a nvidia driver problem with compiz)

What is your graphic card ? is there something in your Xorg log ?

Re: Strange freezes

Check the logs for warnings and errors.

Earlier this week someone reported the same symptom and it was related to the network-module...
