Video using the VGA out exit

Hey,

I am trying to output video through the VGA exit of my laptop.

When I plug the display in, and type "xrandr", it seems like the monitor
is detected and connected OK.

Now I can't seem to output video to it - I see only a blank black screen (even after typing "xrandr --auto").
If I restart the computer while the monitor is connected, I CAN see output on the monitor (only from the terminal,
X/KDE is not displayed no matter what).

Is there some way of using the external VGA monitor without restarting my laptop?
Is there some way to see X Windows on it?

Thanks
fiod

Re: Video using the VGA out exit

There is, but your Xorg needs to be configured to use the secondary output.  I'm not exactly sure what you need to add, but it comes down to the xorg.conf smile
