xboard

I installed xboard and gnuchess, however when I use the command xboard I get the following error:

[root@A~]# xboard
xboard: no fonts match pattern -*-helvetica-bold-r-normal--*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

I assume I'm missing some fonts, if so how would i go about to install them using pacman?

Install xorg-fonts-100dpi (or 75dpi, or both).

You should already have them, didn't you use pacman -S xorg?
