Gnome 2.20 and my HOME don't work well

i installed arch yesterday
my home is not shown on nautilus-places, instead of that, it shows my Desktop...
nautilus shows my HOME on the toolbar and bookmarks, but not my Desktop
it seems that the folder Desktop doesn't exist, i can't find it using nautilus tree
for example, when i download a file to my Desktop, it appears on my HOME
or, if i move a file to my HOME, appears on my Desktop too
it's so strange, and it bothers me a lot
what can i do?:(

Try making a Desktop directory, remember capital D. Make it in your home directory and what happens.

Re: Gnome 2.20 and my HOME don't work well

I have a similar-ish issue on one of my machines - but sorted it by creating another user account, which for some reason worked fine.
You could try this to see if it helps.

Re: Gnome 2.20 and my HOME don't work well

Go into gconf-editor and navigate to apps/nautilus/preferences/ and if desktop_is_home_dir is checked, uncheck and restart.

If this doesn't work go to ~/.config/users.dirs.dirs and change the line XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME/" to XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME/Desktop" then log out and back in.
