Install guide: Jinzora v2 (suh-weet) PHP frontend for MPD

Check this sweet Amarok-killer out:

http://www.jinzora.org/

I personally hate having all the KDE crap (no offense wink) installed just for Amarok, so this app's a godsend - it's awesome for those wanting to set up a secure music server too.

I've written an installation guide which can be found HERE in the wiki.

Let me know if you have any problems; if you manage to solve them yourself, add the problem with solution to the troubleshooting section at the bottom of the wiki entry. I've added a few entries for the most common problems already.

Enjoy big_smile

Re: Install guide: Jinzora v2 (suh-weet) PHP frontend for MPD

I have a problem. Have installed LAMP and it is working fine, well it seems like it anyway. Have tested with php scripts. It works fine.

Have extracted jinzora2 to my html directory and I have run configure.sh. But when i point my browser to http://localhost/jinzora2/index.php, i only get an empty page. There is nothing there.

I have checked my LAMP configuration. It seems ok. Have tested with v2.7.5 and the CVS snapshot. Same problem. Have tested with Firefox and Opera on my local machine. Same result. And I have tested with Opera and IE7 on a remote Vista machine. Same result for Opera. IE7 got a 'HTTP 500 internal Server error'. But the other php webpages on the same server works fine.

Any ideas where to start looking for trouble?

Nice software, thanks for sharing (and for the wiki howto).  I may have to install this on my new mythtv/media center

It works now. I am not sure what I did.

My problem now is to import music. It seems like it is a problem with file permissions since I can import music when I put them in /tmp.
But I have tested with changing ownership and given every file/directory 777 permissions. No luck.

My music is a separate disk mounted at /mnt/music
The path to the music is /mnt/music/Music, the music is then arranged in one directory for each album.

What's the filesystem for that disk? And the mount options?

Re: Install guide: Jinzora v2 (suh-weet) PHP frontend for MPD

I figured that one out.

In php.ini there is a variable called open_basedir.

; open_basedir, if set, limits all file operations to the defined directory
; and below. This directive makes most sense if used in a per-directory
; or per-virtualhost web server configuration file. This directive is
; *NOT* affected by whether Safe Mode is turned On or Off.
open_basedir = /home/:/tmp/:/usr/share/pear/

If your music is mounted in '/music', then '/music' must be added to the variable. Same goes for anything not already in the variable. I guess security is not compromised as long as you not add '/'.
