So I use wpa_supplicant, and I have a WPA-enabled network.
It's been absolutely fine. I've never, ever had problems since the day I got this computer.
Today, it sits on "ASSOCIATED WITH" until the authentication times out, or 10 seconds. Over and over.
I've tried rebooting, I've tried changing the password, I've tried changing the authentication mechanism, I've rebooted the router, I've down/upgraded wpa_supplicant...
Nothing has been updated/installed since it worked last.
I just tried no security, and that doesn't work, either.
What happened?
(Unfortunately, I don't have another wireless-enabled computer to test on)
My wireless card is intel, and I use the ipw3945 driver. I've also tried two kernels.

if u changed nothing, then it has to be hardware. correct?

No I don't think it is hardware. I've had the same problem with a different card. My card work perfectly with the 2.6.22 kernel, but as soon was we went to the 2.6.23 kernel it doesn't work on bootup. I have to start it manually, which it takes forever to associate with my AP. However, after it is associated it is super stable.
