Hi,
This is my first time using arch or a distro of linux this do-it-yourself-ish.
After installing xfce4 from the repos, it works fine but I can't have xfce manage the desktop. If I select the check box it unchecks it when I close the desktop settings dialog. When I do a 'ps aux | grep xfce', I notice that xfdesktop is not running. When I try to run it from a console within xfce, I get:
Xfdesktop: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIB_2.7' not found (required by /usr/lib/libthunar-vfs-1.so.2)
I am on intel64. I am currently starting xfce via 'startx' and the xinitrc setting is 'exec startxfce4'.
I liked xfce4 on PCLinuxOS and would like to get it running on arch as well. Well, I might just go back to KDE if that's any easier to setup. Is kdemod recommended over standard kde or is it defunct now that kde4 is out?
Thanks!

It looks like you haven't updated your system after the installt:
pacman -Syu
