Going back to x86

Hi,

For a couple of months now I've been using Arch64 (with kdemod). The system has been working fine overall and I must say that I am happier with Arch than I have been with any other distro so far. I like the speed, the KISS concept and the rolling system. I also like the challenge of messing about with it.

However I've been having several problems with 64bit issues. I simply cannot get Flash to work in Firefox. I think I've tried everything including nspluginwrapper and following the wiki and these forums. But nothing seems to want to work.
I also can't get lightscribe to work. This is not essential but it would be nice if it worked. There are other issues too but I can't remember them now.

So I plan to install x86 Arch instead. My file system has / for root and /home for home. I assume that I only have to re-install the / section and keep my /home data. Will this have any bad effects when I install kdemod on my new system?

I guess I will just have to wait until 64bit becomes more main stream.

Re: Going back to x86

Hey,
I have recently been doing research on converting the other way (i686 -> x86_64). This forum post should be helpful.
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=42268
Taking from the posts there, I would make a list of packages installed, zip up /home and /etc/, and just reinstall. Probably would still be a good deal of work, but it doesn't seem like there is any other way to do it.

I guess I'll have to reconsider my plans to convert, I remember fighting with amd64 ubuntu trying to get flash working...no fun.
