First off, I'm loving arch. However, I've hit a roadblock I can't seem to get around. I recently installed xfce4, but the fonts looked really bad. I found this wiki page and decided to give it a try:
Beautify Fonts for LCD in X
I got past the steps where you uninstall cairo, libxft, and freetype2 and then reinstall cairo and libxft. However, I can't get this step to work:
Install the package freetype2-lcd from AUR
makepkg -ci /full/path/freetype2-lcd-*.pkg.tar.gz
And yes, I did replace the path to the package.
When I try to build the package using makepkg, I get this output:
[jacob@arch freetype]$ ls
freetype2-lcd.tar.gz
[jacob@arch freetype]$ tar tvf freetype2-lcd.tar.gz
drwxr-sr-x nobody/aur 0 2008-01-22 11:57 freetype2-lcd/

[jacob@arch freetype]$ makepkg -ci freetype2-lcd.tar.gz
==> ERROR: PKGBUILD does not exist.
I'm new to this package manager, so could somebody give me a hint in the right direction? Sorry for the newbie question.

Run makepkg from inside of the folder. And welcome to the forums.

I knew it was something that should have been blatantly obvious. I've got it working now.
Thanks for your help.
