I have Arch installed on my Toshiba Satellite A105-S4004 with Intel 945 chipset. I have installed and configuered xorg. Tried different video drivers xf86-video-i810 - got "libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x5c" then I installed xf86-video-intel 1.6 - same kind of result. Now I upgraded driver to xf86-video-intel 2.2 and still got same kind of error.
Are there any ways of twiking it to have real and full acceleration?

Hello,
I have the Intel 945GM chipset, and I get one of those messages for all values between 0x23 and 0x32. I never worried about them since I see the following 2 lines right after the warnings.
(II) AIGLX: Loaded and initialized /usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri/i915_dri.so
(II) GLX: Initialized DRI GL provider for screen 0
So I just googled for the heck of it. People have been reporting this warning since 2006. A few bug reports say that it is a purely cosmetic thing, that has no impact on performance. Apparently, it is supposed to be fixed in a newer version of Mesa.
Anyway, I notice no ill effects whatsoever, so I'll go back to not worrying about it
Ciao,
peart.

Yes, I have the same lines in my xorg.0.log. But when i do
glxinfo | grep render
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x80
direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) 945GM 20061017 x86/MMX/SSE2
and because of this error I can not use Compiz.

I also get that warning (but with 0x65) on intel 965GM card; using intel driver, and am able to run compiz perfectly. I just need to use LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT fix (see wiki).
So wenter: what makes you think it's because of this error that you cannot run compiz?

I get this message too, and have never had a problem with Compiz or any other OpenGL program.

nothing of concern. fixed or not, one thing is for sure, you have no luck with these intel chips for gaming (except all the free games) so give up.
just use compiz-manager and you don't have to worry. it automagicifies suckomatistics.
I need real, proper pen and paper for this.

when I was trying to run compiz (starting from terminal with the long start string from wiki ) my windows borders were gone and I saw an error on my terminal window and it made me think that it's a problem. looks like not will keep searching for dancing-around-compiz-to-make-it-work posts. thanks everybody for answers.

Windows borders are gone, since it's not compiz's task to do window decorations. You should also run some window decorator. Choices: emerald, gtk-window-decorator, kde-window-decorator.
