it would be nice if someone made a how-to on implementing kexec in arch linux. has anyone ever used kexec??? if anyone is wondering whats the use of this for a regular user like me, i have a hdisk that sometimes will not read at boot up. its about to die from what i can tell, but i have already backed it up and if it dies it dies :-)

Re: implement kexec in arch linux???

I had a HD that didn't spin up fast enough to be usable at boot once, but I think it was more a mobo problem. Anyway, giving it more time by disabling the fast boot option it all worked fine.

Using kexec in Arch isn't different than using it somewhere else, so try finding a general kexec guide somewhere (google), starting with the readme may be an idea http://developer.osdl.org/rddunlap/kexec/2.6.7/ .
