OpenGL apps starting problem

Whenever I try to start a opengl app (google earth, neverball, catalystcontrolcenter.) nothing seems to happen.
The strange thing is, that after launching glxgears once, everything works fine.
dmesg shows: "[fglrx:firegl_free_mutex] *ERROR* mutex id 0x00000002 not found in mutex list"
I dont really want to start glxgears everytime, before i want to use googleearth... (and i dont want to explain this to my girlfriend).
The system is a Fujitsu-Siemens pa2510 laptop, ati x1200, latest catalyst 8.1, kdemod
I hope someone has an idea.
Thanks, Fabian

Re: OpenGL apps starting problem

Yeah, this has been noticed before with the catalyst drivers - basically the second openGL app to run actually works as expected, while the first apparently does nothing.

Re: OpenGL apps starting problem

add no compiz and two xorgs running to that list and theres the known catalyst problems.

Solution:

Wait 6 months to ati to fix em or buy Nvidia card.
