[Solved] System upgrade and squares in GTK apps

I performed a system upgrade today after a LONG time ( it pulled over 300MB ) with: pacman -Syu
Since then, all fonts in GTK apps appear as squares! Qt stuff is OK though.
Unfortunately reverting back to old gtk2 ( if that's what causing the problem ) is not easy as i
cleaned the old package cache etc as instructed by the new version of pacman.

Any ideas?

Just found out that it was pango that caused the problem. Back to the old version - squares are gone! Try again the new version - still fine!!!.
