Xorg / fvwm technical problem.

This is a problem that relates to the installation of fvwm. I like to compile and install fvwm rather than use the binary. This isn't the problem. The problem is that once it's installed, certain features such as X font are not enabled. The ./configure in fvwm says it's not there. Yet it is!

Re installing x font doesn't work either... pacman -S libxft ... because it's already installed. I've had a few issues where certain packages are not automatically picked up by install ./configure scripts. Fvwm is just one example. I'm I would like to fix this problem but have no idea where to start. I've tried searching the forums but no luck.
