Kdemod and Swedish characters, a known problem or just my install?

Im having problems using Swedish characters within any application belonging to kdemod 3.5.8, xterm or whatever else native/gnome app works fine.

-Keymap and keyboard model is correct in xorg.conf
-Keyboard layout withing KDE/kdemod is correct (no difference if set or not),

Is this a known issue with kdemod or is it just my installation?
Whats a good starting point to track this bug/misbehaviour down?

Re: Kdemod and Swedish characters, a known problem or just my install?

i have kdemod installed, and i have no apparent problems with this.
I must say i'm not perfectly clear what you mean though... Can you produce åäö (a - ring, a - umlaut, o - umlaut) using you keyboard? Is it that you can't see these characters? Are you using swedish language in kde?
Also, what is your locale in rc.conf? /etc/locale.gen? Has locale-gen been run after the last change in /etc/locale.gen?

Re: Kdemod and Swedish characters, a known problem or just my install?

Hi Pelle,

i pacman'ed the native KDE 3.5.8 packages and it behaves the same way, so it seems that it's not a kdemod issue after all.

It's only kde applications that seems to suffer from this problem, except for KDM that seems to understand everything as expected.

Firefox and other GTK+ applications or native Xlib apps seems OK.

See screenshot for example.

Are you using a UTF-8 locale?

Aight, problem solved. I changed my LOCALE to en_US instead of en_US.UTF-8.
Thanks for your help!
