You're not supposed to put uppercase in the package name. :-)

Right now I have been testing the new amule, kind of waiting for it to get out of beta before I update it in staging. It doesn't run the best for me, seems to have redrawing issues and lags a lot for some reason, so hopefully when it gets out of beta, that will be fixed.

M is uppercase (or maybe I should write upper case), I just meant the package name should be amule instead of aMule.

Yep, you basically just resize it and it readjusts, but it is a bit annoying to have to do that everytime I load it up.

I have added crypto++ that compiles under gcc 3.4 to staging, it should be there in the next server sync. I will be updating amule to the 2.0 as soon as they have a stable release, but now that we got the whole crypto++ situation working, it should be a smooth update when that happens.

I tried both the aMule package in staging (amule 1.2) and this one (amule 2.0), and both won't start.
amule: error while loading shared libraries: libcurl.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Indeed, there isn't. I have:
libcurl.a
libcurl.la
libcurl.so
libcurl.so.3
libcurl.so.3.0.0
...but no libcurl.so.2. Where can I get one?

You can probably just make a simlink to libcurl.so.3 called libcurl.so.2, but a real solution would be to recompile aMule with the new libcurl. You can do so yourself using the PKGBUILD, or wait for an updated package.

The stable version of amule has just been recompiled and updated in staging, so in the next sync of the ftp server, it should show up and you can update it and everything should work alright.

It worked! Many thanks. That seems so obvious a solution once you mentioned it, but I never would have thought of it ... o the agony of newbness.

Great. I guess the curl update cause problems with a few packages. Anyway, in the meantime I can still use aMule to continue my quest for all the early seasons of MST3K.
