I've just installed Arch on my laptop and configured the graphical side using xorgconfig. I'm currently getting screen glitches when doing certain things, such as opening firefox. For a split second, lots of multicoloured lines (mainly horizontal) appear. No glitches during movie playback though.
I have a feeling that this is due to refresh rate. The xorgconfig settings at the moment are:
HorizSync 31.5 - 64.3
VertRefresh 50.0 - 60.0
The laptop manual says refresh rate is 50/60 Hz so that's what i've gone for on the vertical side. The HorizSync setting was recommended by xorgconfig for a monitor running 1280x1024 at 60hz (which seemed closest to 1440x900 at 60hz). I'm not sure if refresh rate is the cause of the problem, but I don't really want to burn out my monitor by increasing it.
Any advice?
Thanks!

has something to do with xorg-server. I get the same thing and its not my hardware, downgrading to a previous version solves the problem for me. But, that's impossible for a new install, unless u can find the old package somewhere.

Thanks for the help.
Don't think i'm going to bother downgrading. Hopefully the next version of xorg should fix the problem.

I went the other direction; I upgraded (from testing). Things seem to be better. So far anyway.
