What is a parralel from Quicken and MS Money to linux? GNUCASH seems dead, and there's no arch pkg....

Gnucash isn't dead. However, the port to gtk2/gnome2 hasn't yet been completed and doesn't look like being ready anytime soon.
I've got it running on Archlinux - if you're interested I can give you the pkgbuilds for it and the dozen or so gnome1 libs it depends on (though I need to tidy them up a bit before I post them anywhere...).

Grisbi doesn't really work right with US currency... any other ideas?

I would be interested too. I've not found anything yet. Ms money is about the only thing I am still using my windows installation for.
Considering that I am a software developer, I've been tempted to start working on my own little database driven app for tracking my financials.

gnucash is amazing. it's the only reason i still have mepis installed on my other partition. i remember when i compiled it on gentoo it needed like 20 packages, most of which were gnome 1 packages. i'm thinking about working on a gnucash package but it may not be worth it if the gnome 2 port comes out soon. anyone know how long it will take?

I am unsure if it fits international needs.

Is hbci a point outside germany? hbci means something like "home banking computer interface" so you can secure your cashflow by use of a smartcard.

anyone ever use gcompte? (i *think* it has english language support, not 100% sure). i can't get it to compile on arch, though:
configure: error: Can't find gnome-xml library.
even though i do have gnome installed including libxml2. none of these finance managers seem to be easy installs.
