Anyone know of a good reference guide to what all the xorg modules do? I'm trying to tweak my xorg.conf, and it's hard to do when I dont understand what the modules do.
I checked the wiki, man pages, our forums, the gentoo forums, and google... Is there even such a ref. guide?
Thanks for your insight !

hmmm I don't think there's a guide... you can, however, check the module dir to see which ones are available and then research each one...

Is it really the only way?
"... being a Linux user is sort of like living in a house inhabited by a large family of carpenters and architects. Every morning when you wake up, the house is a little different. Maybe there is a new turret, or some walls have moved. Or perhaps someone has temporarily removed the floor under your bed."

Here is a brief documentation...
http://www.x.org/wiki/XorgConfModulesSe … =(modules)
not listed in there but included in my xorg.conf are
"synaptics" which is for touchpads
and
"drm" some 3d-acceleration stuff... not 100% sure about it

Hey good question, I've wondered this myself from time to time, and never really found an answer
although I assumed it was out there. It would be nice if there was more info available short of looking
at the source code.
xdeusx's link is definitely a nice bit of info
