Hi,
i need help. I am using Xfce4 as my DE and I have done something to the fonst while browsing through the settings. Now, the fonts cant be read. When I use browser and try to type something also cant recognize the letters. I tried to install another DE, but it is the same story. So now, I cant use any DE. Can someone help me to go back to default settings? Sorry for bothering the forum so often. Thanks

Maybe try renaming your .fonts.conf ?
mv .fonts.conf .fonts.conf-old

It does not work. .fonts.conf gives me "no such file in directory."
I tried
pacman -Rd fontconfig
pacmab -Sy fontconfig
But, it did not help either.
It is so annoying, because the whole system was set up and working well, but now I besically cant read anything. I just see dots instead of clear letters.

It does not help either to uninstall xfce4 and then reinstall it again. It stays the same. The icons are also covered with dots, but the background picture looks clear. And I really do not know what I have done to cause such a sudden change. Hope, someone will point me to a solution.

Can you remember what settings you've changed? Check your DPI, antialias, and sub-pixel rendering settings.

If you don't remember what you changed you could always try creating a new user then login with that user and load your DE.
This will isolate if it's a system wide setting or just something in your home. At least then you know where to start looking

Hi,
everybody. It is working now. As if out of nothing, it came back to normal. I tried to uncheck the possible settings in xfce and shutdown the computer (rebooting was not changing anything). I think it had something to do with my testing [Fn] key on my laptop, which I use for switching to LCD mode. Perhaps, it gave that kind of unreadable appearance to my fonts. But then, I opened it again and everything is perfect now. Thank you for all the advices. Arch Linux forum is really a great community. Blessing to all.
