Ah thanks...didn't think to search for it in pacman!
It seems that Pacman > Google
It's fun when you're bored but it is easily one of the most pointless things I've found.

They are the aero icons. The default is orange but I went and colored them blue. You can get the original here.

Reasons,
I suppose the other elements of that Wikipedia page are hidden with a script or a custom stylesheet. Would you mind sharing it?
By the way here is my desktop (clean):
Ok, it doesn't tell you much about my configuration other than it is very minimalist (I really like it this way). I am running Openbox with no window decorations. A random wallpaper is picked by a script. I launch my most used programmes with keyboard shortcuts. For all the others, I use gmrun (I press Alt+F2 and it pops up at the bottom center of the screen). My system tray (Docker) only appears when the mouse is in the top right corner.
I also like to hide unnecessary interface elements likes and menus and buttons:

Using firefox with the stylish extension (though greasemonkey has the same script) using the "simple research" style sheet.

You seem to like minimalism and keyboard shortcuts. Have you ever tried a tiling window manager like xmonad, wmii or dwm?

The components:
Xfce 4.4
gtk2 theme: Murrina-Black
xfwm: GSM
icons: Final Order
font: Annivers
and the wallpaper I snagged from 4chan/wg/. You can get the Annivers font by browsing Smashing Magazine, it's somewhere in there, and it's completely free. I stick to a very minimal setup usually, and that may get even more drastic (see the xmonad man tab in vimperator?). I'm also noticing that my panel is very windows-y, but it works for me and saves more screen space than a dual bar setup would. I long for the summer when I hope to setup Xinerama with two 22" screens.
vim? EMACS? Pssh, I code in Scribus.

I'm a xmonad fan and I don't like anime at all.

I don't see the point: I would use the floating layout anyway. I don't like tiling because I usually have only one or two windows per virtual desktop. I find it distracting to have windows which I'm not using on the screen. (and no, I don't like maximized layouts)
