Just a day or two before the new kernel 2.26.24 was released I managed to install archlinux on my brand new laptop. I also had nvidia driver installed for my GeForce 8400M GS. At that time pacman installed kernel nvidia 100.14.19-6 and nvidia-utils 100.14.19-2.
When I now try to install something new via pacman it forces me to install the new kernel & nvidia first. I am a bit concerned. aAl of a sudden nvidia is reported as nvidia-169.09-2 and nvidia-utils-169.09-1. Does anyone know why there is such a jump in the version? Do you think it save to proceed? I searched on the nvidia Website, but have not found information about the version differences, just the drivers themselves.

Jochen

Thx. I would expect this to explain the diff of a minor version change, e.g. from 169.08 to 169.09, maybe 168 to 169 at the most, but not from 100 to 169...
