I installed Arch linux, then xfce4 and typed startxfce4. xfce launched, I was happy. I decided to try it with a reboot. Now whenever I type start xfce4, it freezes, with the x in the middle. and random color lines in the backround. Any help to stop this sytem freezing is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Rob.

I don't have a /var/log/Xorg.0.log/ When I look it's empty. Any other things you'd want to see though?

Strange. I guess /etc/X11/xorg.conf is next.

/var/log/Xorg.0.log/
are u looking for a directory or a file? because the way u wrote that says u was looking for a directory and it should be a file.

Well, I typed nano /var/log/Xorg.0.log/ and there was nothing.

Specter11b,
I forgot to mention that you have to be root to see the files in /var/log. Either login as root, or use sudo, if you have it set up:
sudo nano /var/log/Xorg.0.log
Don't put a slash at the end of the file name, either.
HTH,
peart.

Hi I have the same problem, is there a solution for that?
Strange is the fact that nor my keyboard or mouse are working, tried even CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE but the only solution is reboot (Its only VMware sofar so it doesnt hurt that much)
Thank you in advance
