Problems with ATI Catalyst and Compiz Fusion (again)
First of all, hello to everyone from an ex-Gentoo user who got fed up with broken-reverse-circular-cross-dependency-latest-UNstable stuff and after trying dozens of distros finally settled with Arch =]
Anyway, I've searched through the forum for a solution to my problem but to no avail.
To put it simply, Compiz isn't working with Catalyst for me. Until a few days ago I've been using the OS ATI driver and things were actually working, but very slow (I have an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 and glxgears show about 1400 FPS with the OS driver, while about 3100 with Catalyst), so I decided to give Catalyst another try. Now I know it's supposed to work, since I got fglrx + AIGLX + Compiz working under Gentoo, SuSE, Ubuntu and a few more. (Could it be that the latest version on Arch repository is broken?)

And I've just run the "pacman -Syu" command.

Try to install the latest catalyst driver. Until now I had the same problem. But the catalyst 8.02 driver solved this problem.

BTW you still have the 8.01 driver, try another mirror.

Hey, that one worked! I've changed the mirror and updated the system... it pulled the new Catalyst and a few other packages.
After restarting, compiz-manager put up Compiz flawlessly
