I followed the wiki instructions for autostarting Compiz-Fusion by having KDE load it instead of kwin from the start (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Com … id_KWIN.29). Now I undid it, but apparently it's a one-way function. Compiz-Fusion still loads every time I start KDE, only now it loads after kwin.
Obviously I can run kwin --replace from the konsole, but I'd like to actually fix it.
Why is Compiz-Fusion still auto-starting?

check ~/.xinitrc for whats loaded with X and get rid of that silly compiz!
(did it work?)

I'm running kdm as a daemon, so I'm pretty sure ~/.xinitrc isn't checked when I load KDE.

yeah thats the way to go. so.. try this:
man chmod
change chmod +x /usr/bin/compiz-fusion to what it was..
and clear out your ~/.bashrc
good luck

yeah, that's what I've already done. I just deleted /usr/bin/compiz-fusion and took the extra line out of ~/.bashrc
I completely undid it, but compiz-fusion still loads. The only difference is it loads after kwin now (screen flickers black, etc.).

OK, this is why I'm posting in the Newbie Corner.
To fix it I told KDE to start with an empty session on login. Compiz is now gone.

which method have you used?
if its after kwin, there should be a file in ~/.kde/Autostart/compiz.desktop, just delete it
