So after seeing that NCQ support is added for nvidia chipset MCP61 in kernel 2.6.24, I verified my harddrive supports NCQ and tried to enable it. However I cant seem to get it working. I am not sure if I am missing something but here is what may be relevant.
# dmesg |grep -i ncq
Kernel command line: root=/dev/sda5 ro swncq=1
ata3.00: 312581808 sectors, multi 16: LBA48 NCQ (depth 0/32)
# lspci | grep -i sata
00:08.0 IDE interface: nVidia Corporation MCP61 SATA Controller (rev a2)
The second line, showing LBA48 NCQ (depth 0/32), is the same if I do not include swncq=1.
# cat /sys/block/sda/device/queue_depth
1
# echo 31 > /sys/block/sda/device/queue_depth
bash: echo: write error: Input/output error
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

i have just tried to make it work here too since the release of the kernel 2.6.24 archlinux package.
and it does seem to do the same thing as you: nothing at all !
i got the same as you in message.log (dmesg)

I'm not even sure what this means but I suppose it means it doesn't work and well... I get the same output for: dmesg |grep -i ncq
So any fix?
