yaourt doesn't search AUR ?

I was under the impression that if I did a 

yaourt -Ss pkgname

it would also search the AUR.

It doesn't. It just searches the normal repositories, the same as pacman.

Hi,

Try to update/reinstall it from the archlinuxfr repo. That solved the problem for me. To allow archlinuxfr repo add this into your pacman.conf:
[archlinuxfr]
Server = http://repo.archlinux.fr/i686

Then run:
# pacman -Sy yaourt
