When I start Firefox, it is crashed right away. I get this message in the terminal:
INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: Could not get the JVM manager
System error?:: No such file or directory
Suggestions?

At this point, if you need it to work, uninstall j2re (or at least get rid of the symlink in /opt/mozilla-plugins).
My system doesn't do that, unless I do some fiddling (though, I still don't get a java plugin). I've already alerted Dale of the bug and he's looking into it.
If you want to do more research, feel free.

Well, I downgraded back to Firefox 0.9 for the time being.
Thanks for the tip and for notifying the one in charge.

a new firefox package has been released but it still doesn't fix it on my end

0.9.1-2 should have fixed it. If it didn't, you probably have a different problem.
Submit a bug report detailing your problem and how it's created.

0.9.1-2 has fixed the problem for me, at least. Thanks again.

Same error, but with thunderbird this time

Thunderbird error is a thunderbird bug that affect it since version 0.4, it is very singular that they didn't find a solution.
Archlinux package mantainer is working on it tro try to find a way to fix the package.
A quick fix you can do is to delete the following two files:
/opt/mozilla-thunderbird/lib/thunderbird-0.7/components/libgkplugin.so
/opt/mozilla-thunderbird/lib/thunderbird-0.7/components/plugin.xpt
