[solved]Pacman Problem

Hello everybody!

Today I installed Archlinux on my Laptop. After some minor problems I finally installed Archlinux.

Now I wanted to install X, so I typed (as root)

pacman -S xorg

the following message came:

warning: current locale is invalid; using default "C" locale
error: 'xorg': not found in sync db

that problem happened with every package I tried.

After searching the web I found an articles in the wiki:

which I followed step by step. Now I have the same configuration like in the article, but I still have the same problem with pacman.

I hope anyone can help me with this problem.

Did you run "locale-gen" (as root) after changing the config files?

Try setting an English locale for now like in this wiki article:  http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Locale  Once you get the English one working you can play with the configs to try and get the German locale working.

As for "xorg" not being found in the repos...  Did you sync the database and updated the system after installing (pacman -Syu).  If you have done this then perhaps changing the mirror would help (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mirrors).

now I typed

pacman -Syu

but I got many errors (transient resolver failure)

I think the problem will be the Internet. I haven't configured it yet so it can't work..

Most likely...  The instinct to get X up and running as soon as possible is usually an incorrect one in Arch.  Make sure that you have your regular user set up (with all the groups, etc.), network, up to date pacman database etc. set up befor you try try to get X working.  The best thing is to follow the beginners guide (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners_Guide) -- the progression proposed there is logical and following it will save you a lot of trouble in the future.
