I just successfully managed to install Windows XP in a virtual machine using qemu. Now it happens to be awfully slow.
I installed the KVM kernel modules and activated the module 'kvm-amd' in my rc.conf. I am running qemu using the 'qemu-kvm' command - although I set up windows using only 'qemu'.
Now what could be the reason for that? I just tried starting it with the parameter -m 1024 (megabytes of RAM), but this doesn't help either.
Could kqemu help me solve this hassle? Or is there anything else I could do?
PS: Looks like Windows just crashed...
EDIT: Woah, I just installed WinXP in Virtualbox - now there is a difference in speed. The installatino process took me like 2 minutes, whereas qemu needed like 30 minutes...
EDIT2: Of course my user is added to the KVM group and my CPU should be running with the kvm module - it's an AMD 64 X2. I am not running the 64 bit version of Arch!

Well, I just push this topic once...
It's not like I can't run a Virtual Machine now - the OSS version of Virtualbox works fairly smooth here; but I am still wondering why qemu is dying...
