hi again,
Today i installed hplip and pyqt3 ,but when i run hp-setup i get
Session management error: Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols
specified are supported and host-based authentication failed
then the setup starts and after the question about the connection type i get "No devices found".
I checked the groups and power etc. on the printer.
So has anyone an idea what i did wrong?

I must admit that I don't have a proper clue. This problem does show up in a Google search but without real resolution other than a hint that it may be something to do with network setup. Do you have matching hostnames in /etc/hosts and /etc/rc.conf? Otherwise, there's always the cups web interface (http://localhost:631), which is what I used to successfully set up my HP Photosmart.

no
in /etc/rc.conf
# NETWORKING
HOSTNAME="myhost"
and /etc/hosts is 127.0.0.1
i use dhcp . so should i change the /etc/rc.conf ?
-"cups web interface" i tried it yesterday and it worked.
interesting is that when i ran hp-check i get an error that cups doesn`t work and i have to restart it and the error disappears.
And thank you for taking time to answer my newbie questions

At least something worked! FYI, I use dhcp as well and here are the relevant parts of my /etc/rc.conf
# -----------------------------------------------------------------------
# NETWORKING
# -----------------------------------------------------------------------
#
HOSTNAME="darkstar"
and /etc/hosts
#<ip-address> <hostname.domain.org> <hostname>
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost darkstar
