Hi there!
My first post here, so hello everyone
I'm not an Arch-newbie, i used to work with Arch for a long time. Since one year i had no use in Linux (Anyone could use Reason 3 or Traktor DJ Studio with wine/Cedega/anything? ), now i have a new laptop, and new problems... Here about the one with sound...
alsaconf is finding my card properly (i think so?) - and the module is snd-hda-intel. Alsamixer? Everything seems to be all right, but... there is no sound at all...
I found one answer - to write in /etc/modprobe.conf sth like:
options snd-hda-intel model=SOMETHING_HERE
But i tried many models... and... nothing.
I tried to use my usb snd card, i had sound with it - once. Then - the system is seeing it, but i can't force it to produce any noise ;]
Any suggestions?

For the usb sound, try entering ....snd-usb-audio.... in rc.conf as the first module and have usb in Hooks.
Prediction...This year will be a very odd year!

I'll try it... but that's not the way for me, i'm not allways using the usb card... I just need the sound form the laptop's card ;]

Sounds like you have a laptop. Could you post the make and model? I had a Toshiba laptop with sound issues and it turned out to be a bad DSDT.

The Dell m1330, which also uses snd-hda-intel, is temporarily without sound if you're synced to the repos. Supposedly there's a fix included in the next version of alsa (1.0.16). You can try updating alsa and alsa-utils to that version to see if that helps; I'll be doing that when I get home.
edit: typo.
edit 2: Yeah, updating alsa to 1.0.16 didn't do anything.

Try to suspend with audio playing.
On resume there should be sound.
An ugly workaround
This is about the same thing
