Soundblaster Live! suddenly broken - no errors

Hi. For the last few years I've been using my onboard sound which uses the snd-intel8x0 module. I've gotten used to having to quit one sound app while opening another. Then I found an old dusty Soundblaster Live! in my closet and suddenly, I have hardware audio mixing! Ah, sweet sweet convenience. It's worked fine for a while, but recently it just, stopped. Granted, it was after I took my computer to pieces and back together to replace a CPU fan, but there is no obvious problem other than it just doesn't work.

The modules are loaded correctly. It has a /dev/dsp* node. I usually blacklist my onboard sound so that emu10k1 is the only sound device that's loaded, so it can't just be going to the wrong output. There's simply, no sound. Alsamixer shows no problems. Everything's unmuted and turned up. The only error I can find is in dmesg:

snd-emu10k1: Suspected sound card removal
snd-emu10k1: Suspected sound card removal
snd-emu10k1: Suspected sound card removal
snd-emu10k1: Suspected sound card removal

snd-emu10k1: Suspected sound card removal
snd-emu10k1: Suspected sound card removal
ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:05:06.0 disabled

I'll go and have a fiddle with the bios shortly, because I've changed nothing on the system to cause this. In an effort to solve it, however, I upgraded my kernel and alsa drivers, but to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re-seat the soundcard in the motherboard slot. It's probably loose.

It definitely wasn't loose, but switching slots (twice!) did the trick.
My computer is starting to unnerve me more and more these days.
