[solved]Quicktables info from Wiki and forum

I'm about to install Quicktables (since my firestarter won't boot up for an ordinary user) but the Wiki's and Forum's 'How To' differ.

The Wiki says iptables in /etc/rc.conf has to be enabled -
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Quicktables

...while this post in the main forum recommends iptables to be disabled, only to enable it at a later stage.

Also, when to perform a reboot differs from these two how' to's...

So, which one should I follow? The wiki's guide is more comprehensive so I was going to follow it but then stumbled upon the forum post that made me confused. smile

I followed these instructions, not sure why as it was so long ago since I set it up.

You followed Timtuxe's instructions? Including the chown and chmod arguments?

Yes then followed T-Dawgs method in the next post. The chown chmod arguments are in the quicktables install file when you manually install quicktables.

I see. The Wiki is not 100% correct though, I just tried it on my machine.
The Wiki says I should start iptables with an ($ /etc/rc.d/iptables start) argument but it does not work since there are no rules generated yet.
I added it in the daemon section in rc.conf though.
What I did was, installed the iptables, got the Quicktable package, tar the tarball into my user directory > went to the quicktable directory and typed ./quicktables-2.3  > answered few questions > saved the rules by typing this: /etc/rc.iptables save > reboot.
Shields up gives me full stealth.
Chown and chmod was not needed here...

Tried Timtux's and T-Dawgs method as well and it works fine too.
