hibernate not working

Hi there,

After reading the wiki, I fixed PART of my suspend/hibernate problem.

What I did:

1. pacman -S hal-info
2. add my username to the power group

What's happening

1. suspend/resume works perfectly (if I use gnome's suspend menu item)
2. hibernate does not work at all (after I click "suspend", the laptop blanks for a few seconds, then come back to life, like nothing happened).
3. closing the lid does not trigger either suspend or hibernate.

How do I fix problem 2 and 3?   I am using a BenQ Joybook A52.

If you need any log/diagnostic data please let me know.

Thank you very much for help!

Shannon

Re: hibernate not working

for 3. System->Preferecens->Power Management and you have there When laptop lid is closed: on ac or on battery.
for 2. in the past i have similiar problems using 2.6.23. when i wanted to hibernate the screen was power off but the laptop no. Now in 2.6.24 hibernate is working very well. i don't know how to fix but someone in the forum had make packages for pm-utils with uswsusp support
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=43481 . maybe that's the solution

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.
