Type1 problem about startx

my xorg.conf is generated from hwd,and I've not installed any desktop manager such as gnome or kde, just xorg.
when I startx,it says:Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/Type1,removing from list!
I commentted this item from /etc/X11/xorg.conf,but this error always appear, and x exits everytime.(It seems any modification I made to xorg.conf has no effect, such as "ddc already built-in,and I commentted it in xorg.conf, but it still informs this). Why?

Plus: there is no such directory(Type1) under /usr/share/fonts.

Re: Type1 problem about startx

I removed all font paths from my xorg.conf file (they are useless, as X server searches for installed fonts when starting), and now doesn't have those kind of messages. The only thing that is logged into Xorg.0.log at start about fonts is

        /usr/share/fonts/misc,
        /usr/share/fonts/100dpi:unscaled,
        /usr/share/fonts/75dpi:unscaled,
        /usr/share/fonts/TTF,
        /usr/share/fonts/Type1
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/fonts//libfreetype.so
(II) Loading font FreeType
(II) Initializing built-in extension XFree86-Bigfont

Try doing this by yourself smile

Install gsfonts
This doesn't solve your problem.

What vga card/chip are you using. Run hwd -e. Does hwd -s show any video driver.
